The Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC) announces the retirement of current President & CEO Andrew Schmidt, after 32 years of exemplary service to our Greenville-Pitt County destination and tourism industry. Schmidt’s last day with Visit Greenville, NC will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
“It has been an incredible privilege and honor to serve as the President & CEO of Visit Greenville, NC for the last eleven years,” stated Andrew Schmidt, President & CEO of Visit Greenville, NC. “I have been blessed to work with an incredible staff, dynamic local partners, and numerous statewide colleagues and organizations to position Greenville-Pitt County as a premier tourism destination within North Carolina and the Southeast.”
During his tenure, Schmidt has been a passionate advocate for Greenville-Pitt County on the state level, and currently serves on the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina Board, the North Carolina Travel & Tourism Board, is the current Chair of the North Carolina Sports Association, and member of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Advocacy Committee and Congressional Summit participant advocating and discussing policies that directly affect our region's tourism industry. He also served as President of the North Carolina Travel Industry Association from 2021 to 2023.
In addition to his time with Visit Greenville, NC, Schmidt also taught tourism and hospitality classes in the East Carolina School of Hospitality Leadership for 15 years, demonstrating his commitment and investment in sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generations entering the tourism and hospitality industry.

While his shoes will be incredibly difficult to fill, his legacy of service, mentorship, and excellence will continue to guide us for years to come.”
The Pitt-Greenville Convention & Visitors Authority will now begin conducting the search to fill the position of President & CEO of Visit Greenville, NC with the opening up of the job application process.
